NPD’s Newell to speak to parents

NORMAN — Norman Police Sgt. Jennifer Newell will speak to the Norman Chapter of Parents Helping Parents at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Education Center at Norman Regional Hospital, 901 N. Porter Ave.

Newell, with the Community Services Section, will discuss Norman’s Community Oriented Policy where police and citizens work collaboratively on problems that include drug/alcohol abuse.

Parents can learn about services falling under this policy and will have an opportunity for dialogue and networking with law enforcement.

Parents Helping Parents is a network of parents and others concerned about alcohol/substance abuse in their (adolescents or adult) children.

The group offers hope through shared experience, resources and education.

The group promotes prevention and intervention, collaborative efforts and increased access to information, services and support.
