Elections today

NORMAN — Norman and Moore school district and technology center district voters will go to the polls today. Voters in 13 of Norman’s precincts will select between Gary Barksdale and Cindy Nashert for seat 3 of the Norman School Board.

Moore Public School district voters will decide on the largest bond proposal in the district’s history, a five-year $126.4 million bond for two new elementary schools, a new junior high school, transportation equipment, facilities expansion and security updates.

Moore Norman Technology Center voters have three items on the ballot today. Voters will choose between candidates Tammy Maus and Andy Sherrer, decide whether to add an additional mill to the current four-mill levy and, pending the mill addition, whether it will be a permanent adjustment. The increase is expected to add an estimated $1.7 million to the school’s budget. Superintendent Jane Bowen said the additional funds will bolster facility remodeling, construction, equipment purchases and potentially teacher salaries.
