NORMAN — A Norman man who was arrested twice within a week in September pled guilty to two counts of indecent exposure Wednesday.

James Wade Walkup, 28, was convicted of two separate incidents of indecent exposure and obstructing an officer during one of those incidents. District Judge Tom Lucas sentenced Walkup to five years in prison and three years of supervision after his prison sentence is fulfilled. His release will include special conditions.

A timeline of events leading to Walkup’s second arrest is listed below:

· Sept. 11: Walkup allegedly exposed himself to four elementary students at a bus stop at 7 a.m.

· Sept. 15: Walkup allegedly exposed himself to two juvenile victims walking near their home around 5 p.m.

· Sept. 16: Walkup was arrested for the Sept. 15 incident involving the two juveniles.

· Sept. 17: Walkup posted $2,000 bail and was released from jail. Charges also were filed against him for indecent exposure to the two juveniles walking near their home.

· Sept. 18: Norman school officials sent out a district-wide alert warning parents to be on the lookout for a man matching the description of Walkup who had allegedly exposed himself to students at a bus stop.

· Sept. 19: Walkup was arrested again, where he remained.

· Sept. 21: Charges were filed against him for indecent exposure to the four juveniles at the bus stop and obstructing an officer.

At Walkup’s initial hearing, bail was increased to $25,000. When additional charges were filed, his bond was set at $50,000. Walkup would have had to post $75,000 to bond out of jail.
