TULSA — The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board plans a special meeting for Jan. 14 to approve changes to the state’s parole procedures.
The board’s executive director, Terry Jenks, said the panel received fewer than a dozen comments after inviting the public to weigh in on the policy changes.
The board is reworking its policy after voters approved a state question that removes the governor from the parole process for nonviolent crimes. Gov. Mary Fallin will still have final say in parole cases for people convicted of 63 types of violent crimes.
The special meeting will be 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at Hillside Correctional Center in Oklahoma City.
