Stephen Holman running for Ward 7

NORMAN — Stephen Tyler Holman announced Friday that he will run for Norman’s Ward 7 City Council seat.

Holman is the fourth generation of his family to call Norman home. He works for a family owned business in downtown Norman and has been involved in Norman city government for more than a decade.

Holman currently serves on the 2060 Strategic Water Supply Committee and is the liaison for the city element in organizing the Norman Music Festival.

Having coming up 21 votes short of winning the Ward 7 seat in a May 2011 runoff, Holman believes that his hard work and extensive knowledge of the issues facing Norman will make him an excellent representative for the community. Holman, if elected, will bring in leadership that the constituents of Ward 7 and the city as a whole deserve.

“I feel that I have a very strong grasp of where this community has come from and where we have the potential to go,” Holman said. “My commitment is to work toward safe housing for all and to encourage smart growth practices in future planning. My No. 1 commitment is to work toward solving our current and future water supply needs. I will work with my fellow council members, the public and local groups to make the best decisions that improve Norman and continue to make it a great place to live.”

Holman hopes that, if elected, he can work aggressively to address the current issues facing Norman.
