Pothole patches set for overpass

NORMAN — For the second time in less than a week, potholes on a Norman interstate overpass bridge deck are being patched.

City officials said beginning at 7 a.m. today, Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews will close the eastbound outside lane on the Main Street bridge over Interstate 35. Traffic will be restored to this lane of Main Street after 5 p.m.

The closure will not affect the ramps on the south side of the Main Street interchange. The ramps on the north side of the interchange will remain closed. The recommended detour routes for the ramps on the north side of the Main Street Interchange will remain as currently signed:

· Northbound I-35 to Main Street

Westbound Main Street: Exit I-35 at Lindsey Street and use 36th Avenue Southwest to Main Street.

· Southbound I-35 to Main Street

Westbound Main Street: Exit I-35 at Robinson Street and use 36th Avenue Northwest to Main Street.

Eastbound Main Street: Exit I-35 at Robinson Street and use 24h Avenue Northwest to Main Street.

· Westbound Main Street to I-35

Southbound I-35: Use 24th Avenue Southwest to Lindsey Street to access I-35.

Northbound I-35: Use 24th Avenue Northwest to Robinson Street to access I-35.

· Eastbound Main Street to I-35

Northbound I-35: Use 36th Avenue Northwest to Robinson Street to access I-35.

Construction on the I-35/Main Street Interchange Project began Jan. 7.

The $30 million construction project was awarded to a joint venture of Allen Contracting and Manhattan Road and Bridge of Oklahoma City.

The project has an estimated completion date of March 2014.
