Deputies chase woman from courthouse

NORMAN — Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies chased and caught a woman who raced from the county courthouse Wednesday morning.

Stacy Privett, 31, was in the courtroom of Associate District Judge Stephen Bonner when she was told about a warrant for her arrest, Cleveland County Undersheriff Rhett Burnett said.

“She bolted and ran from there through the judge’s chambers,” Burnett said. “We pursued her.”

Court records show Privett failed to report for a weekend jail sentence related to a child support matter.

She had been sentenced to the Cleveland County Detention Center every weekend for six months, according to court records. Privett was serving a jail sentence for failure to pay child support.

A bench warrant for Privett was issued Tuesday, records show.

Burnett said deputies were able to stop Privett in front of the sheriff’s department at the corner of Comanche Street and Peters Avenue. However, she refused to respond to their verbal commands and a deputy Tased her.

The prongs from the Taser hit Privett, Burnett said. EMSStat paramedics removed the prongs from Privett.

After treatment, Burnett said, deputies took Privett to the Cleveland County Detention Center. She was booked into the county jail for failure to comply.
