OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the shooting of an off-duty Oklahoma County sheriff’s deputy during a robbery.
An Oklahoma County judge on Friday sentenced 20-year-old Keonta Prince to life in prison — then suspended all but 25 years — for the May 2011 shooting of Sheriff’s Maj. John Waldenville.
Waldenville lost his right eye when he was shot in the face outside Cattleman’s Restaurant during the robbery. He was working off-duty security for the restaurant and was taking an estimated $6,000 to deposit in a nearby bank at the time.
Prince apologized to Waldenville’s family before he was sentenced.
Co-defendant Christopher Travis Baker was convicted in December in the shooting and sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years.
