Professors’ community forum weighs university privatization

NORMAN — The Oklahoma Chapter of the American Association of University Professors will host a community forum titled “Privatizing the Public University: Is OU Becoming a Private School?” Thursday at 7 p.m. in Gaylord Hall, 395 W. Lindsey, Room 3150.

The forum will examine what it calls the “growing trend to ‘privatize’ the public university” and examine possible consequences.

Featuring Rainbolt College of Education Professor Penny Pasque and Southwest Field Organizer for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Matt Jordan.

Pasque is the author of American Higher Education, Leadership and Policy: Critical Issues and the Public Good. Jordan will discuss privatization in the public workplace in Oklahoma and beyond.
