AARP

The Norman AARP chapter 1064 will meet 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Senior Center, 329 South Peters Ave. The officers for 2009 will be nominated to be elected at the November meeting.



Cleveland County Genealogical Society

Associate State Climatologist Derek "Deke" Arndt will be the featured speaker at the Cleveland County Genealogical Society meeting 7:15 p.m. Oct. 21 in the CSBI classroom at 12th Avenue NE and East Main Street. Use the south entrance from parking lot 4. Arndt will speak about the "Winds of Change: 10 Weather Events That Impacted History in Oklahoma and Beyond."

Teddy Bear Collectors

NAMI

REACH, a support and educational group for families and friends experiencing mental illness, meets 7 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month in the Edsel Ford House, 107 State Drive. Dan Cross with Native Health Systems will address the opioid crisis in Oklahoma at the Oct. 21 meeting. No fees or registration is required.



Norman Newcomers

Norman Newcomers will meet 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 13 at the First Christian Church, 220 South Webster Ave. Ginger Silva, an appraiser from Noble, will speak on "What's Hot and What's Not in Antiques and Collectibles." Pi Beta Phi's Founders Day is noon today at the home of Valerie Lorenz, 1000 Greenway Circle. To make reservations, call Michel at 360-2395.



Delta Kappa

Delta Kappa Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will hold its monthly business meeting 7 p.m. today at the Chamber of Commerce, 115 E. Gray St. Delta Kappa meets first and third Mondays of each month. For more information on becoming a member or forming a chapter, call Vivian Gibson at 364-0484.



LIFT

Living Information For Today is a social event for widows and widowers meets 11 to 1 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month at local restaurants. First time attendees eat at no charge and reservations have to be made by calling 321-6000.

Kim Lopez with the Cleveland County sheriff's office will speak Oct. 23 at Red Lobster.

The dinner is sponsored by Primrose Funeral Service and Sunset Memorial Park.



Bilingual Friday Night Bingo

Bilingual Friday Night Bingo, sponsored by the Golden Agers, is 7 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church gym. Dinner will be prepared and served 6:30 p.m. by the Christian Service Board. The menu is Frito Lay pie, chili, hot dogs, brownies, cookies, lemonade and coffee. There will be bilingual announcements for door prizes and bilingual acknowledgment of birthday guests. Group photos of the winners will be taken. There is no limit on blackout purchases.

Hi-Noon Business and Professional Women

Norman Hi-Noon Business and Professional Women meet at noon the second and fourth Wednesday at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 300 W. Comanche St., second floor.

Embroiders Guild of America

The Norman chapter of the Embroiders Guild of America (EGA) will teach a class in Hardanger, a traditional Norwegian embroidery featuring open work, 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays in October at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. Enrollment is open to the public and can be completed at the church. Tuition is $20, and there is a $5 supply fee for this class.

The Second Stage Players

The Second Stage Players, a senior theatre group, will meet 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Norman Santa Fe Depot, south room, for old time radio scripts readings to prepare for future performances. Newcomers Club

Newcomers Club of Norman has a wide variety of social and educational activities designed to reflect the interests of its membership.

Norman Singers

Norman Singers open rehearsal 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Highway 9 and Imhoff Road. The community chorus performs everything from pop to classical with a concert in the fall and spring, the annual Christmas program at the Norman Public Library, nursing homes, sponsoring a poetry contest in the Norman Schools and taking on interns from the OU School of Music. Quilters Guild

Norman Area Iris Society

Reach-NAMI

REACH, Reassurance to each, a family and friend support group sponsored by NAMI Cleveland County (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and a United Way Agency, meet 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Edsel Ford House, 107 State Drive. Norman Kiwanis

The Norman Kiwanis Club meets 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays with a luncheon, club news and a speaker in the activity room of the First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster Ave.

Taize Style Service

Taize Style Service meets 7-8 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month in the Sanctuary of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church and will focus on year-round worship with seasonal emphases and expanded visual centered around the Altar.



Partners of Hope

A group providing support for parents and caregivers of children with emotional and behavioral health disorders meets 6 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of every month at Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center's Child and Family Services, 1120 E. Sooner AMBUCS

Sooner AMBUCS meets 7-8 a.m. Tuesdays at Prairie Kitchen, 2520 W. Main St. AMBUCS is a diverse group of men and women dedicated to creating mobility and independence for children and adults with disabilities.
