Former Okla. first lady Ann Bartlett dies

TULSA — Former Oklahoma first lady Ann Bartlett, who was married to former Republican Gov. Dewey F. Bartlett Sr., has died. She was 92.

City of Tulsa spokeswoman Kim Marsh-MacLeod said Bartlett died Saturday night after an extended illness.

The former Ann Smith married Bartlett in 1945 and they remained together until his death in 1979. Dewey Bartlett Sr. was also a U.S. senator.

Among their three children is Tulsa Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett Jr. The mayor said in a news release Saturday that his mother was surrounded by family when she died.

Ann Bartlett was first lady from 1967 through 1971. Her husband was in the Senate from 1973 through 1978.

Other survivors are children Joan Bartlett and Michael Bartlett.
