LAWRENCE, Kan. — The battle of Oklahoma prep stars went down to the wire in Lawrence. OU freshman Sharane Campbell, a Star Spencer grad, got the last laugh against Tahlequah native and Kansas junior Angel Goodrich to propel the Sooners to a 74-68, overtime win.
Goodrich led the Jayhawks with 18 points, nine rebounds and an assist on the play that brought the game into overtime. Campbell was not to be outdone, scoring 23 points, including an 8-for-10 performance from the field.
After trailing 27-25 at the half, the Sooners gave up the largest lead of the game at nine points with 9:34 left. Oklahoma fought back with a late, 9-0 run and near the end of regulation took a 64-61 lead on a pair of Cambell free throws.
With less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation, Goodrich drove down the floor and drew coverage before finding Monica Engelman for an open three-pointer that took the game into overtime at 64 each.
Kansas went up quickly in overtime, but another 9-0 run by the Sooners gave them all the cushion they needed. Campbell hit a 3-pointer with 1:29 left that gave Oklahoma a 70-68 lead and added a block of a Goodrich shot during the overtime period.
Whitney Hand added 16 points for the Sooners, and Kaylon Williams provided eight points and 10 rebounds.
With its second-straight win on the road, Oklahoma improved to 14-6 on the season and 6-3 in the Big 12. Kansas fell to 16-5 on the season and 5-4 in the Big 12.
OU’s next action will be the second Bedlam meeting of the season, with a noon tip at home Saturday.
