Casey powers Sooners to victory

NORMAN — For the first time this season, the Sooners faced some adversity. Northwestern took a 4-2 lead in the third inning, the first time Oklahoma has trailed this season. But thanks to a big game from Georgia Casey, it didn’t last long.

After Lauren Chamberlain opened the fourth with a single, Casey followed that up with her first home run of the year to tie the game. The Sooners added another run in the inning and two more on Casey’s second home run of the game in the seventh inning to earn the 7-4 victory.

OU moved to 5-0 on the year and Michelle Gascoigne earned her second victory in relief of Keilani Ricketts. Ricketts’ run of no-hitters ended after giving up four runs on four hits in the first two innings.

Next up for the Sooners is a trip to California on Friday for five games in the Campbell/Carter Classic.
