Indians in familiar territory

NORMAN — While Westmoore and Southmoore compete at Class 6A Dual State at Claremore, another Transcript area team will grappling simultaneously.

Little Axe is headed back to Class 3A Dual State for a fifth straight season, set to take on Berryhill at noon today at Cushing High School.

The Indians are ranked No. 6 in the OKRankings.com coaches poll and will take a 9-2 dual mark into the event.

Four mats will be going at the same time when the event begins, with Newkirk and Cascia Hall sharing the top half of the bracket with Little Axe and Berryhill, while Perry and Geary, and Plainview and Vian do battle in the bracket’s bottom half.

Perry (12-1) and Newkirk (19-1) are ranked Nos. 1 and 2 by the coaches. Little Axe’s two dual losses have been delivered by Newkirk and Plainview.
