Sooners roll over C. Arkansas

NORMAN — Oklahoma ran into a speed-bump, but managed to down visiting Central Arkansas 3-1 Wednesday night at McCasland Field House.

The Sooners improved the 3-1 on the season with the 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18 victory.

Caitlin Higgins put togeher her first double-double of the year, adding 12 digs to her 16 kills to help lead OU. Suzy Boulavsky added 19 kills and setter Brianne Barker had 50 assists and 10 digs. She’s now had at least 50 assists six times in her career.

Defensively, libero Maria Fernanda had 21 digs for the Sooners, and Sallie McLaurin had three block assists.

OU jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first set and held the Bears to a -.031 hitting percentage. The Sooners led all the way in the second set, but the Bears came on late to win the third.

OU took a 13-12 lead in the fourth set and outscored the Bears 12-6 the rest of the way.

The Sooners are at the Houston Invitational beginning Friday.
