CHOCTAW — Perhaps two teams headed in different direction, but both the Norman High girls and boys dominated Choctaw Tuesday night on the road.
It was more of the same for the Tiger girls, who moved to 7-1 on the season via a 6-1 victory, while the Tiger boys snapped a five-game losing streak, shutting out Choctaw 6-0 to move to 3-5 on the season.
Both NHS squads are at Edmond North Friday for a very important district game.

NHS girls coach Bob Byers wasn’t thrilled by the way it started, but he had to like the way it finished with the Tigers running off six straight goals after Choctaw’s Caitlyn Bond scored the game’s first goal just 2 minutes into the game.
Ally Renfroe scored twice and assisted once, Brandi Sheffield scored twice and Lauren Goodman picked up two assists as the Tigers pushed their winning streak to four games, moving to 2-0 in District 6A-1 in the process.
Other goals were scored by Shelby Teel and Shiloh Farris.
Still a game at the half, the Tigers up just 2-1, Sheffield scored her second goal 10 minutes into the second half, Farris scored 14 minutes later, five minutes before Renfroe scored both her goals less than two minutes apart.
The Tigers outshot the Yellowjackets 22 to 2.
NHS boys 6, Choctaw 0
NHS boys coach Gordon Drummond had had enough.
“We’ve outshot every single team that we’ve played,” he said Tuesday, after finally turning a statistical advantage into a victory.
The Tigers are finally back in the win column. After scoring a single goal in their previous five games, NHS put up six in a single night against the Yellowjackets.
Logan Hammons found the net twice, Alec Lee and Sheldon Spelman each contributed a goal and an assist. Matt Eckert and Dakota Sanor also found the net.
The Tigers could have forced an early end to the game with a few more goals, but they kicked too many into the arms of Choctaw’s keeper, who was credited with 19 saves against NHS’ 39 shots.
“We kept kicking it to the guy in the red shirt,” Drummond said.
