NORMAN — Four rising eighth graders at Whittier Middle School — Gaoshua Williams, Brandon Marquart, Ben Neighbors and Jackson Ross — just returned from attending a football camp run by the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, that took place on the Dolphins’ compound in Davy, Fla.
While there, the Norman foursome became the nucleus of a seven-on-seven team that was coached by former Dolphin wide receiver Oronde Gadsden. The only Oklahomans in the entire camp, the Whittier quartet’s team emerged as camp champions of the seven-on-seven tournament.
That seven-on-seven team will be invited back to perform as part of a halftime exhibition at Sun Life Stadium, the Dolphins home stadium, on Aug. 10, the day the Dolphins play host to Tampa Bay in both team’s preseason opener.
