NORMAN — Alameda Church of Christ
Senior Minister Rusty Tugman will preach a review of this year’s sermon theme, “Jesus.”
Concord Missionary Baptist Church
“Looking Ahead By Looking Back” is the theme for the morning worship service. Pastor Clark will speak on the subject from Genesis 45:5-8 as Joseph looks back upon his life. At 1:30 p.m., a sermon will be from Ephesians 6:14 on the subject “Standing In The Armor: The Protection Of Truth.” There will be no evening services.
First Baptist Church
The Rev. Roy Joe Ham will bring the sermon during classic worship and the Rev. Jim Stewart will bring the sermon during LifeSong worship. Pastor’s Bible Study will resume next Sunday when Jane Roby will lead the congregation through Habakkuk during January.
First Christian Church
Sunday is the first Sunday of Christmas. The sermon, “Who Did You Get for Christmas?,” is based on Luke 2:41-52 with the Rev. Gary Hardwick preaching at both morning services.
First Church of Christ, Scientist
Sunday’s topic will be Christian Science.
First Presbyterian Church
On the first Sunday after Christmas, Dr. Bob Rice will preach a sermon titled “Eight Days Later” based on Luke 2:22-40. There will be no other activities.
Grace Presbyterian Church
Sunday, the Rev. Todd Dole will preach from John 7:1-52, “Come and Drink.” Sunday evening, Dole will preach from 1 Peter 3:1-7, “Wives and Husbands.”
Memorial Presbyterian Church
Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “One Hundred Tons of Ice” based on Colossians 3:12-17.
St. Stephen’s United
Methodist Church
Sunday, the Rev. Amy Venable’s sermon will be, “I Think My Mother Would Have Been A Lot More Upset,” from Luke 2:41-52.
South Canadian Valley Church of Christ
Sunday, Glen Taylor will be the speaker.
United Church of Norman — UCC
On the first Sunday after Christmas, the Rev. Warren Jensen will address the question “Who Is This Child” in his sermon reflection. The Scripture reading will come from Luke 2:41-52.
University Christian Church
Sunday, Pastor Dr. James Taylor will speak on the series “Joshua: From Defeat to Victory,” titled “Caleb’s Special Inheritance,” from Joshua 14:6-15.
University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)
On the first Sunday of Christmas, Pastor Joe Summerville’s sermon is based on Colossians 3:12-17 in which the baptized are urged to clothe themselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience.
Victory Church of Norman
Lay Minister Jim Williams plans to preach a sermon about how God’s word defines salvation taken from John 1 and 3 at the afternoon service on Sunday.
