Church Notes

Alameda Baptist Church

Pastor Phil Ratliff will deliver the message "Give Thanks to God," from Psalms 34:1-9 during the Sunday morning worship. Pastor Ratliff's message for evening worship will be "Faith -- Works," from Titus 3:5-8.

Alameda Church of Christ

Rusty Tugman will finish the "Overcoming Our Big 12 Struggles" sermon series Sunday with the lesson, "Making God a Priority."

BridgeView United Methodist Church

The Rev. Allen Carson's Sunday sermon is "A Matching Grant that's Hard to Understand," from John 6:1-14. There will be an evening Hanging of the Greens service.

Concord Missionary Baptist Church

"Transformed By Thanksgiving" is the theme of Sunday morning's message. Pastor R.L. Clark will take the text from 1 Timothy 4:4-5, speaking on the power of Thanksgiving to make a life different. The evening service will be highlighted with a program by the youth of the church and Youth Pastor Daniel Conditt will bring the evening sermon.

Ecclesia of Norman

Sunday, the church will celebrate Thanksgiving with a catered breakfast in the Heritage Room of the Oklahoma Memorial Union. Following the breakfast, Lead Pastor Daniel Kitchel will preach from 1 Samuel 24 and 26. The title of the sermon is "Revenge." John Shepherd and Alyssa McReynolds will lead the church in song and praise.

Faith Pointe Baptist Church

Sunday, Pastor James Gann will preach a sermon "Offering Thanksgiving," from Luke 17:11-19.

First Baptist Church

Sunday, Dr. Wade Smith will bring the sermon "A Life of Thanksgiving" at the Classic Blend and LifeSong services. The service of Hope and the Lord's Supper will be Sunday evening.

First Christian Church

The sermon is "The Magic Words," from Colossians 3:12-17 with the Rev. David Spain preaching at the morning services. The Logos Children's Choir will join with the Chancel Choir to sing the anthem at the second morning service.

First Church of Christ, Scientist

Sunday, subject will be "Soul and Body." The Golden Text from the King James Bible, is Isaiah 60:19: "the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory." The church also will have a Thanksgiving service 10 a.m. Thursday. Golden Text from the King James Bible will be Psalms 147:7 (to ; ) "Sing unto the Lord with Thanksgiving."

First Presbyterian Church

On Christ the King/Pledge Dedication Sunday, the Dr. Bob Rice will preach a sermon "Rich Toward God," Luke 12:13-21 in the morning services. The annual Thanksgiving celebration will begin with the evening Vespers led by the Rev. Pam Normile. The congregational Thanksgiving dinner will be in Alexander Hall after the service.

Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday, Eddie Jensen will deliver a sermon from Genesis 19:23-38, "Salt, Sulfur -- Sin." Jensen will deliver a devotional in Sunday evening worship.

Holy Ascension

Saturday, there will be a Divine Liturgy to celebrate the Entrance of the Theotokus into the Temple. Sunday is the 24th Sunday after Pentecost. The Epistle of the day is from Saint Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 2:14 to end. The Gospel of the day is from Saint Luke 2:16-21.

McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

The Rev. Cal Brannon will preach in the Sunday morning sanctuary services from Matthew 22, "Why Do I Have To Dress Up?" and the Rev. Randy Wade will preach in the LifeLine service from Psalm 100, "Give Thanks."

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Sunday's sermon, the seventh in a series titled "God is Calling Me/You/Us/Them," will be preached by Dr. Jim Burns and is titled "Called to Change the World."

Morning Star Center for Spritual Living

Carmen Eppler's message is "A Sacred Selfless Act." Eppler will talk about the liver transplant she received on Mother's Day in 1997.

Norman Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Larry Bierman will present "A Guest At Your Table" an annual expression of thanks to raise funds for the service committee which carries out humanitarian projects across America and around the globe.

St. Stephens United Methodist Church

The Rev. Amy Venable's sermon Sunday will be "When We Begin to Taste and See What the Kingdom is Like," from Revelation 1:4b-8.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Mike Minson, an elder of South Penn Church of Christ, will be the guest speaker for Sunday morning and afternoon services.

Trinity Baptist Church

Sunday, Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers will speak on "Worthy is the Lamb," from Revelation 5. Sunday evening he continues his series on "Biblical Counseling."

Trinity Lutheran Church

The sermon Sunday by Pastor Dave Nehrenz will be "My Words Will Never Pass Away." The annual Thanksgiving dinner provided by the Lutheran Womens Missionary League follows the service. It is the last Sunday in the church year.

Unitarian Universalist Community Church

Wayne Riggs, Ph.D., professor of philosophy at the University of Oklahoma, will present the sermon Sunday.

University Christian Church

Sunday, Dr. James Taylor will preach a sermon from his "God Reigns" series, "God's Wrath," from Romans 1:18-32.

Victory Church of Norman

Lay minister Jim Casteel will preach at Sunday afternoon's service. A fellowship lunch will be served before the service.

Wildwood Community Church

Sunday, Teaching Pastor Bruce A. Hess will teach part five of his series on "Right Choices," "Choose to Invest in the Kingdom," from Philippians 4:14-19.
