Closing ceremony set for Tuesday

The Most Rev. Eusebius J. Beltran, Catholic Archbishop of Oklahoma City, has announced that the closing ceremony for the Cause of the Servant of God, Father Stanley Rother, will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Oklahoma City 6 p.m. Tuesday.

All are welcome to attend the Mass and pray for the cause for the beatification of Father Rother, who died for the faith in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala, July 28, 1981. The cause is the first for a person born in Oklahoma.

For more than the past 33 months, the members of the Tribunal convened by Archbishop Beltran in October 2007 have reviewed thousands of pages of documents, newspaper articles and personal letters and have conducted interviews of approximately 90 people who knew Father Rother.

The Tribunal’s research will now be sealed and sent to Rome to the Congregation for the Cause of Saints for their review, analysis and evaluation.
