NORMAN — Alameda Church of Christ

Sunday, Senior Minister Rusty Tugman will conclude the sermon series, “How to be an Off-the-Wall Christian.”

Concord Missionary Baptist Church

“The Constraint Of Christ” is the theme for the morning worship. Luke 24:28-31 will be the text. At 1:30 p.m., Pastor Clark will preach on the subject, “The Church’s Spiritual Illumination,” from Ephesians 5:8-11. There will be no evening services.

CrossPointe Church

This week, the congregation will conclude the series on “Stretched” by looking at how to put shoes to an individual’s faith.

Faith Pointe Baptist Church

Sunday, Pastor Gann will preach a sermon titled “Hear Me Now,” from Jonah 3:1-10. After the morning worship, there will be a new members fellowship.

First Baptist Church

Sunday, Dr. Wade Smith concludes the sermon series “Ignite Passion for God’s Purpose” with the sermon, “Have You Heard?” during the Classic and LifeSong worship services. Pastor’s Bible Study will be led by Mike Wilson speaking on “Eschatology.”

First Christian Church

The sermon Sunday is titled “Faith Is As Faith Does” based on Esther 7:1-6, 9-10, 9: 20-22 and Mark 9: 38-41 with the Rev. David Spain preaching at both morning services.

First Presbyterian Church

Sunday, Pam Normile will preach a sermon titled “Cutting Off Our Limbs for Jesus,” from Mark 9:42-48

Goodrich Memorial United

Methodist Church

The Altared Life Youth group is in charge of both Sunday services. Youth Sunday will feature solo and youth choir music, videos and inspirational messages.

Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Todd Dole will preach from John 5:19-29, “Whatever the Father Does.” At 6 p.m., the church will worship together with other area churches at the quarterly hymn sing, held at New Covenant Bible Church, 4230 S. Young, Oklahoma City.

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church

Sunday is the 17th Sunday after Pentecost in Tone 8/Eothinon 6. The saint of the day is the Martyr Gregory of Albania. The Orthros Gospel is from Saint Luke 24 to end. The Divine Liturgy Epistle is from Saint Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:16-7-1 and the Gospel for the day is from Saint Luke 6:31-36.

McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

The sermon series “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Things” will continue on Sunday. The Rev. Linda Harker (Lifeline service in Fenn Hall) will preach “Esther,” from Esther 4:10-14. The Rev. Randy Wade (sanctuary services) will preach “Timothy,” from 1 Timothy 4:12-16. 

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “Maintaining ‘Us’” based on Mark 9:38-50 and James 5:13-20.

Morning Star Center for

Spiritual Living

Gary Cone will speak on the topic “A Vision for the Birth of the New Human.” Cone, founder of the Cone Center for Living in Choice in Oklahoma City, is an energy and vibrational healer.

NorthHaven Church

This week, Bryan Partridge will bring the message “Dangerous Hope,” from Revelation 21:1-4. The children will share a time with Partridge as they discover together what is inside the mystery bag. The choir will sing “We Sing the Almighty Power of God,” by Isaac Watts.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Sunday, Mark Woody will continue a sermon series on the Seven Last Statements of Christ from the Cross. His topic will be “Compassion: Woman, Behold Your Son.”

Trinity Baptist Church

Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers will continue his message on “The Worth of Work Worship” in the morning worship. Sunday evening, he will speak from Hebrews on “Out With the Old and In With the New.”

Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)

The sermon for the 18th Sunday after Pentecost by Vicar Uphoff from Mark 9:38-50 will be titled, “Jesus Redeems Our Sinful Bodies.”

University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)

A Healing Service will be celebrated during the fourth Sunday of the month in which prayers and annointing will be offered for all in need of healing. Pr. Joe Summerville will speak on James 5:13-20.

United Church of Norman — UCC

Sunday, Dr. Lavonn Brown will deliver a sermon titled “While They Wait.” The Sermon text will be from Jeremiah 29:4-14. At 7 p.m., Dr. Bruce Prescott will present a message open to the public titled “How Religion influences Politics in Oklahoma.”

Victory Church of Norman

Lay Minister Dan McDowe plans to preach a sermon titled “Developing the Mind of Christ,” from Philippians 2:5 at the afternoon service on Sunday.

Wildwood Community Church

Teaching Pastor Bruce A. Hess will speak on part 2 of the series, “Braced For Battle,” from Ephesians 6:10-20.
