NORMAN — Alameda Church of Christ

Sunday, Senior Minister Rusty Tugman will finish the “Encounters with Jesus” sermon series with the lesson “From Hopeless to Hope-filled.”

Concord Missionary Baptist Church

“Haunted By Sin” is the subject of the morning message. Pastor Clark will study the weight of sin on the shoulders of Joseph’s brethren in Genesis 42:21. The evening message will be delivered by Youth Pastor Daniel Conditt.

CrossPointe Church

Sunday will conclude the series “Lift” by examining “What Happens When We Worship.”

Echo Church

Nashville recording artist Michael Boggs will lead worship and story telling on Sunday. Picture and autographs with Boggs will be available after service.

Faith Pointe Baptist Church

Pastor Gann will preach “Temptation, Strikes Out,” from Matthew 4:1-11 on Sunday morning. Sunday evening, will be the women’s Bible study, “Believing God,” by Beth Moore, and the men’s Bible study, “If you want to walk on water, you’ve got to get out of the boat,” by John Ortberg.

First Baptist Church

Sunday, Dr. Wade will bring the sermon during LifeSong and the Rev. Kirk Hatcher will bring the sermon in Classic. Pastor’s Bible study, “Thanksgiving Reflections,” led by the Rev. Roy Joe Ham, will meet in Hallock Hall. 

First Christian Church

Sunday’s sermon is titled “Thy Kingdom Come” based on John 18:33-37 with the Rev. David Spain preaching at both morning services. An all church Thanksgiving brunch will be at 9:40 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall with fruit, muffins, cinnamon rolls, breakfast breads, coffee and juice.

First Church of Christ, Scientist

Sunday’s sermon is titled “Denounced.”

First Presbyterian Church

On Christ the King Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Bob Rice will preach a sermon titled “Here Comes the Judge,” based on Matthew 22:1-14 and Luke 14:15-24 at both morning services.

Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday morning, The Rev. Todd Dole will preach from John 6:60-71, “The Words of Eternal Life.” Sunday evening, Dole will preach from 1 Peter 2:13-17, “Submission?”

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church

Sunday is the 25th Sunday after Pentecost in Tone 8/Eothinon 3. The congregation will commemorate the Great Martyr Catherine of Alexandria. The Orthros Gospel is from Saint Luke 24:36 to end and the Divine Liturgy Epistle is from Saint Paul’s letter to the Galations 3:23-4-5 and the Gospel is from Saint Luke 18:18-27. This is the second Sunday of the Nativity Fast.

McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

Sunday will conclude the sermon series “The Power of a Whisper.” The Rev. Linda Harker (sanctuary services) and the Rev. Randy Wade (Lifeline service in Fenn Hall) will preach a sermon titled “Practicing the Presence of God,” from John 10:1-6 and Psalm 46:10. 

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “Encounters with the King” based on John 18:33-37.

Morning Star Center for

Spiritual Living

Jim Norman, M.Ed, LPC, HTP, began a new spiritual journey with the gift of a book introducing him to the ways of the “red path.” Part of the journey has included the development of a monthly healing drumming circle. Norman will share his drumming circle experience on Sunday.

NorthHaven Church

Sunday, Student Minister Bryan Partridge will bring the message “Take Up Your Cross,” from Luke 9:23. Andrew Perrine will share a guitar solo “Sarabande,” by Poulenc.

St. Stephen’s United

Methodist Church

Sunday, the Rev. Amy Venable’s sermon will be “God Has Looked with Favor on This Lowly Servant,” from Luke 1:46-55.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Sunday, the guest speaker will be Clyde Woody from Mesquite, Texas.

Trinity Baptist Church

Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers will speak on “When the Thorn Won’t Come Out.” Sunday evening, he will speak on “The Practice of the Old Covenant,” from Hebrews. Sunday night, there will be worship only, all other evening activities are canceled.

Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)

The sermon for the last Sunday of the church year is titled “My Words Will Never Pass Away,” from Mark 13:24-37.

United Church of Norman — UCC

“Do We Even Want to ‘Know’ Where Our Real ‘Authority’ Comes From?” is the subject of the reflection being shared by the Rev. Warren Jensen.

University Christian Church

Sunday, Elder David Robins will preach on “The Normalcy in Christ.”

University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)

On “Christ the King” Sunday, the Gospel of John 18:33-37 provides the text for Pr. Joe Summerville’s sermon which draws comparisons between Christ the King and earthly rulers who may not rule with love and compassion. Communion will be celebrated at both services. Craft items from Sharing the Dream in Guatemala will be available for purchase Sunday.

Victory Church of Norman

Associate Pastor Larry Ice plans to preach a sermon titled “Seven Principles That Made America Great,” from Psalms 33:12.

West Wind Unitarian Universalist Congregation

Sunday, Teresa Hawkes will present “The Intersection of Science and Religion: A Report of the Mind & Life Institute’s XXV Dialouge with the Dalai Lama.”

Wildwood Community Church

Sunday, Teaching Pastor Bruce A. Hess will speak on “Sharing His Love.”
