NORMAN — Church to host ‘blue’ service
St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 1601 Imhoff Road, will host a candlelight “blue” Christmas service at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The evening will be a quiet, contemplative candlelight service of prayers, scripture and music.
Trinity Lutheran Church events
The children of Trinity Lutheran School, 603 Classen Blvd., will perform the annual Christmas program at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Also, the church will host the second Wednesday soup and salad supper at 6:30 p.m. and Advent Vespers service at 7:30 p.m. with the theme, “Creator of the Stars of Night, The People’s Everlasting Light.”
Alameda Church of Christ Christmas program Dec. 16
Alameda Church of Christ, 801 E. Alameda Ave., will host its children’s Christmas performance at 6 p.m. on Dec. 16.
Admission is free. Hot cocoa and a cookie reception will follow.

Lewental to speak Saturday evening
Dr. Gershon Lewental will speak at the Norman Bahá’í Center, 526 Iowa St., at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. His topics will include “The Bahá'í Faith in the Holy Land” and” Bahá'í-Israeli relations.” The presentation is free.
Dr. Lewental is the AICE/Schusterman visiting professor of Israel studies at the Department of History and the College of International Studies at the University of Oklahoma. He earned his AB from Cornell University and received his PhD in Middle Eastern history from Brandeis University in 2011, writing his dissertation on the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah during the Arab-Muslim conquest of Iran and the changing perceptions of the engagement through time.
