MacKay Whalen, Norman North High School, Ballet:
Holy cow. So, I have to say that Sunday was one of the most fun days ever! I took a musical theatre/hip hop class with Andrew Palermo, where we learned a piece from Spring Awakening and a really cool hip hop routine. Afterwards, 3 of my friends and I went hiking up one of the twin peaks. We made it up about 3/4s the way up the mountain before we got scared that we wouldn't make it back in time, so we headed down. Then we went to the talent show where 2 chorus guys performed "Lily's Eyes" from The Secret Garden. I love that song. On Monday and Tuesday we did a lot of perfecting on our ballet and I think it's looking really good. The only bad thing about class this week is that there are bugs EVERYWHERE! Tons and tons of bugs. We got tutus in for the performance and one was sitting out; as you could probably guess, it was covered in bugs. Nasty. All in all, it's a good start to the week. I am so excited for the performance on Friday. Until the next blog, MacKay!
Dane Schoelen, Irving Middle School, Film/Video:
So far I have been a director, producer, sound, grip, camera assistant, and director of photography. So yesterday I was the actor.
I play the part of a teenage zombie that likes to terrorize the town of Medicine Park. I had a blast while shooting, mostly because I got to be in the river. The only bad part was that I smelled terrible all the way back to camp. But I guess that comes with the territory. I can't wait for another day of playing zombie boy tomorrow.
