OnTrac representative to speak at Cornbread -- Beans

Marion Hutchison, communications director for OnTrac, will be the featured speaker at the Tyner Cornbread -- Beans luncheon Friday at StepBrothers restaurant, 423 S. Webster Ave.

OnTrac is a recently created organization for the purpose of promoting rail and alternatives modes of transportation for the central Oklahoma area. Hutchison will show a video about the group and its activities.

Sponsored by the Cleveland County Democrats, the luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. with the speaker beginning about noon. Cornbread and beans are available for $5 including tea and gratuity, or attendees may order from the menu. The meeting is open to the public.

  • Reynolds remains winner in recount; Hearing Monday on voting irregularities Both candidates in the state Senate District 43 recount picked up votes Wednesday but the outcome in Cleveland and Oklahoma counties did not change.

    State Sen. Jim Reynolds, the incumbent, received 6,467 votes in Cleveland County and challenger David Boren received 4,540.

    There were no adults lined up to cast their votes, but instead plenty of children ready to voice their opinions in the school's mock presidential election.

  • Nichols, Laster win re-election Jonathan Nichols once again will represent State Senate District 15.

    Nichols, R-Norman, was elected to a third term Tuesday evening. He defeated Diane Drum, D-Norman, for the seat.

    With 100 percent of precincts counted, Nichols won with 23,119 votes.

  • Terrill leads Green Embattled state Rep. Randy Terrill was reelected to his District 53 seat Tuesday, winning despite a recent judgment that he fraudulently lent himself money from a previous campaign that he should have declared as an asset during bankruptcy proceedings.
