NORMAN — Oklahoma padded its 2012 recruiting class with another commitment on Sunday. Will Latu, Rivals.com’s No. 1 junior college offensive lineman in the country, told SoonerScoop.com he has committed to OU.
The 6-5, 315-pound tackle has played at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif., the last two seasons. Rivals has Latu rated as a four-star recruit.
“It was after we ate lunch yesterday, me and the coaches, we went back to the offices, we went over some things, we got to watch the senior bowl and all of that,” Latu told the website. “We felt comfortable around each other and talked about this, and I told them that I like everything and I’m committing here right now.”
He was one of four recruits the Sooners brought in for official visits this weekend. Junior college wide receiver Courtney Gardner, Edmond Santa Fe defensive end Michael Onuoha and Keller, Texas, defensive back Zack Sanchez still haven’t given any indication if the visits will bring them to Norman next season.
All of it will be revealed Wednesday on National Signing Day. The Sooners currently have six players already in enrolled in school, and Latu lifts the list to 14 players who’ve currently given oral commitments to OU. The addition Latu lifted OU’s class to No. 8 on the Rivals.com recruiting rankings.
