NORMAN —
One spot on Oklahoma’s offense that’s experienced some growing pains is tight end.
Brannon Green has three catches, including an 18-yard touchdown grab in the season opener. Geneo Grissom and Taylor McNamara haven’t made any receptions in the first three games. All three are first-year players at the positions. Green is a junior college transfer, Grissom moved to the position from defensive end in the offseason and McNamara is a true freshman.
“We’re just such a different offense from last year just because of our youth at tight end,” quarterback Landry Jones said, “but I think those guys are coming along the way they need to come along and we’ll use them the way we see fit.”
The Sooners’ tight ends averaged 3.3 receptions per game last season.
