Sooner recruit doesn't qualify

Oklahoma’s 2009 recruiting class will be one short. Sooner coach Bob Stoops confirmed Friday that defensive end Terry Franklin did not qualify and will attend a Texas junior college instead.

Stoops said the coaching staff had been aware of Franklin’s situation since late May.

Franklin, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive end from Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas, committed to the Sooners in February of 2008. Rivals.com had him pegged has the 35th best defensive end in the class of 2009 and 95th best player in the state of Texas.

Franklin is the only member of the OU’s recent class who is not currently enrolled in summer school.
