Sophomore safety Reggie Smith underwent an MRI on his left knee Monday, but OU coach Bob Stoops expects him to play Saturday against Colorado.
“We’ve looked and believe it’s something that should heal up fairly soon,” Stoops said.
Smith was on crutches Monday, but he’s expected to return to practice Wednesday.
This isn’t the first week Smith has been held out of practice. He missed two leading up to the Texas game with an infection in his left leg.
Who’s next
With Adrian Peterson out, it appears freshman running back Mossis Madu will be pulled out of redshirt.
Madu, a former Norman High standout, has been traveling for road games. Running backs coach Cale Gundy said he’s the one, among other freshmen, who was getting most of the practice reps before Peterson went down.
“Mossis is the guy who has been given a ton of reps with the (first and second teams) in inside drill and blitz drill,” Gundy said.
Chris Brown could also be pulled out redshirt, but Gundy said the definite decision is DeMarco Murray will not play this season.
He’s been limited by a toe injury since the preseason and the coaches believe he’s missed too many practices to help this season.
Missouri kickoff set
The Sooners’ Oct. 28 game at Missouri has been set for an 11 a.m. kickoff. The contest will be televised by KOCO-5 (Cox 8) locally. That will make it the 50th consecutive Sooner game to be televised either live or on a pay-per-view basis.
