Big commitment

Transcript Staff

If Cameron Clark indeed makes it to Oklahoma, Sooner men's basketball coach Jeff Capel will have landed another big find on the recruiting trail.

Sunday it was reported by Rivals.com that Clark, the nation's No. 5 small forward as ranked by Rivals and Scout.com, two national Web sites that cover major college recruiting extensively, had made his verbal commitment to OU.

"It just felt like the right place," Rivals quoted Clark. "With Tony Crocker leaving (after the season), it'll give me a good chance to start (in 2010)."

Clark was thought to be visiting Marquette next month, but has apparently called off the rest of his recruiting process by choosing the Sooners.

Neither Capel nor OU is allowed to comment about any recruit until a national letter of intent is signed. Clark can do that on Nov. 11.

Many programs, including Kansas, Kentucky and Arizona also showed interest in Clark.
