NORMAN — Oklahoma responded to its first loss of the season with a decisive 4-1 victory over Houston on Sunday to round out the first homestand of the year.
OU (18-1) got on the board early, with Brittany Williams doubling with the bases loaded in the first inning to bring in two runs and help the Sooners immediately get back on the right track after falling 1-0 to Nebraska on Saturday evening.
Houston (10-7) put up just one run against the Sooners on Sunday after scoring eight runs in two wins against Oklahoma State on Saturday. It came in the third inning.
The Sooners got the run back in the fourth when Lauren Chamberlain doubled to open the inning and came in when Georgia Casey singled to right field. The duo repeated the feat in the sixth inning, with a double by Casey bringing in Chamberlain again to provide the final margin.
Next up for OU is a trip to Wichita State for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Sooners then host a pair of games against both Drake and Northern Colorado on Friday and Saturday.
