Help CART help military families

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Military families in need have found a friend in Lawton-based Operation Homefront Oklahoma/Arkansas. And for the second year, Operation Homefront is able to assist more families, thanks to public transit systems across the state and their annual Stuff the Bus campaign.

This is the first year for Cleveland Area Rapid Transit to participate in Stuff the Bus. Last year’s statewide event was a huge success. We hope Norman-area residents will help CART put its best foot forward for this event.

CART is asking residents to Stuff the Bus from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. A CART bus will be outside of both Norman Walmart stores. All donations are tax-deductible. Items needed:

· Gift cards for gas or groceries

· New sporting supplies like bats, gloves, footballs, soccer balls, etc.

· New toy trucks, bears or dolls

· Winter hats, coats, mittens or scarves

· Diapers in all sizes

· Coloring books and supplies

· Books for all ages

Military families seeking assistance are asked to fill out an application at www.operationhomefront.net/OKAR.

The stories of these families in need are heart-wrenching.

It seems a $25 gift card to Walmart or Target, or a box of diapers, is just a little something we can give back to these military men and women who have given so much to us.

Please help us Stuff the Bus on today at your local Walmart.
