A former county commissioner used to tell us he often got complaints after a country road was resurfaced.
It just let folks speed a little more, he said. If that's the case, look for more speeders on Etowah Road in the southeastern part of Cleveland County.
County commissioners will join forces with the towns of Noble and Slaughterville to resurface six miles between 108th Avenue SE to 180th Avenue SE.
The project will cost about $850,000 with Noble and Slaughterville contributing $250,000 each and the county picking up the rest. Funds are coming from federal stimulus money.
Etowah Road is a major east-west collector street and takes traffic off of State Highway 9. It's used often by school buses and should be as safe as possible.
