They're often on opposite sides of the political spectrum but Gene McKown and Lyntha Wesner share one common trait: Both are passionate about Norman.
They have spent much of their adult lives trying to make this little corner of the world a better place to live, work and rear families.
Norman's City Council honored that service this week by including the two in the Citizens Honor Roll of Service. Other members of boards and committees also were recognized.
Ms. Wesner is known for her work with efforts to encourage recycling in Norman, build trails and acquire public green space. She worked with Mr. McKown on a decades-old rule requiring developers to donate parkland.
Mr. McKown, a developer who has built hundreds of homes in central Oklahoma, has been instrumental in the vision, creation and financing of Legacy Trail.
