Give me a person, please

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — I’m in the process of moving just one-and-a-half miles away. Not being a computer person, changing my address has been a chore.

First off, Social Security. You get a computerized human voice that grills you endlessly but can’t understand my birth date. Maybe it’s my Mississippi accent. Gave up on that after an hour. Finally got through to a real live human and hopefully got it done. Next came two insurance policies. Same thing. About this time, my patience and fingers were getting worn out.

I thought I was through the hard part. No way. Went to the post office to get a change of address card. No more. Must go online to do that. If I survive changing my phone and utilities, it will be a miracle.
