NORMAN — Editor, The Transcript:
It has been a little over a week since our big community Thanksgiving. As we, at Food and Shelter, are looking back on this year’s event, we remain in awe of the community support we had this year. Norman Public Schools was a wonderful host and our partners, United Way, City of Norman, Salvation Army and Community Action were with us each step of the way. A really amazing man, Claude Rappaport, owner of Culinary Kitchens in Oklahoma City, cooked 28 turkeys for us to serve. La Baguette donated rolls, Gigi’s Cupcakes brought the most beautiful desserts, the pies and Cool Whip were plentiful, we had iced tea to go around and our volunteers were ready and willing to work hard so that no woman, child or man is hungry on Thanksgiving. Norman truly is a generous and caring community. At Food and Shelter, we are thankful.
