An exchange student living in Norman a few years back used to go out in the evenings and take pictures of the sky and trees. She told her host family we take both of them for granted as much of the world does not have the beautiful mature trees and sunsets enjoyed here.
They're not advertising for sunset photos but the Norman Park Foundation is looking for a few good tree photos. The organization holds an annual tree photo contest. They will exhibit more than 200 shots from amateurs and professionals at a reception Dec. 11.
A panel of jurors will select this year's winners. Cash prizes are awarded. Applications are available online at wwwnormanfun.com. It's a great way of showcasing one of those natural features we seem to take for granted.
