County changes proposed

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — A couple of changes have been proposed in the way our county government operates. Citizens need to let their county commissioners know what they think.

The first involves moving the weekly meeting time from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Monday. We think an occasional evening meeting or even a meeting in the outlying communities like Lexington, Slaughterville, Moore or Noble would be welcome in those areas.

The second proposal involves beginning each meeting with a prayer. Some counties do it, as do some city councils. We think a better idea would be to offer a moment of silence for those who wish to pray silently. It seems to work in our schools and has worked for other boards and commissions.
