Norman — Norman’s July 4 Celebration will be special this year. The city is teaming up with the military to honor Veterans, especially Vietnam Veterans. Those men and women who didn’t get a warm welcome when they came home are finally getting some recognition.
That celebration is still months away. In the meantime, organizers of the Cleveland County Veteran’s Memorial in Reaves Park are renewing their call for all Veterans and their families to get signed up for the monument.
Forms are available on the city’s parks and recreation Web site, www.ci.norman.ok.us. Click on the parks and recreation link and open the Cleveland County Veterans Memorial nomination form.
All Veterans with Cleveland County ties — including those thousands of men and women who trained here at the two Naval bases — are eligible for the free listing.
