Leonard ‘Len’ W. Burford

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Leonard “Len” W. Burford, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Norman. He was born in Lindsay on Oct. 6, 1935, to Earl Elmore and Faye (Webb) Burford.

Services for Mr. Burford are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 401 S.W. 3rd St. in Lindsay, with Dr. Lavonn Brown and Pastor Randy Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, with Masonic services by the Moore Masonic Lodge No. 539.

Len married Tujuana Sue Wayland on June 8, 1957, in Maysville. They had three sons. In 1968, Len and his family moved from Lindsay to Norman. Len’s career was in farming and manufacturing.

Len was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norman and a member and past Master of the Moore Masonic Lodge No. 539. He was also a member and past president of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and of the Oklahoma Trapshooting Association.

He enjoyed quail hunting with his friends and family, flying, competitive shooting, golf, barbecuing, watching his Irish terrier, Kate, win shows, and being with his grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Faye Burford.

Len is survived by his wife, Tujuana Burford; his three sons, Leonard Michael Burford and wife Delcy, Jim Wayland Burford and John Elmore Burford; grandchildren John E. Burford III and wife Angie and Megan Len Burford; and two great-grandchildren, Karl Austin Hancock and Chase Edward Burford.

Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
