Charlotte Ann Jeffries

NORMAN — Charlotte Ann Jeffries, age 67, of Washington, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. Charlotte was born May 3, 1945, in Beckley, W.Va., the oldest of six children born to John Ephriam Jeffrey and Flora Mabel (Bartley) Jeffrey.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Goldsby Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.

She grew up a minister’s daughter and later would marry a minister, her best friend and first love, Lewie Junior Jeffries, on June 15, 1962. They lived in various states during their ministry — Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri and Oklahoma — before settling near Washington. Together they raised four daughters: Kimberly, Denise, Robin and Peggy. During this time, Charlotte also worked as an administrative assistant for the city of Norman, later retiring from the University of Oklahoma. The past four years, she has worked at the Goldsby Tag Office. Charlotte loved to travel and was a proud member of the Mobile Villa RV Club. She cherished her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to family birthday parties and celebrating the holidays.

Charlotte was very gifted with her hands and especially enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work and quilting for her family. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout her life. She was currently a member of the Skyridge Free Will Baptist Church in Noble. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Flora Jeffrey; two brothers, John Jeffrey Jr. and Duane Jeffrey; and her son-in-law, Greg Hayes.

Charlotte leaves behind her husband, Lewie Jeffries of the home; her daughters Kimberly Sue Mitchell and husband Mark of Norman, Denise Kay Hayes of Washington, Robin Lynn Nipper and husband Craig of Norman and Peggy Jo Smith and husband Joe of Jones; three sisters, Phyliss Jeffries and husband Oziel of Cumberland, Ohio, Norma Kelley and husband Jack of Lakeland, Fla., and Alice Adams and husband Dale of Norwalk, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
