Harold Albert ‘Sarge’ Herd

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Harold Albert “Sarge” Herd, 86, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, in Norman.

He was born Jan. 22, 1927, in St. Louis to A.F. and Estella Herd.

Funeral ceremony will be Saturday 10 a.m. in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike Bumgarner officiating.

Interment will follow in the City of Moore Cemetery.

Harold attended Moore Schools and was a member of the Moore 1921-58 Alumni Association and a member of the Moore American Legion Post 184.

He married Letha Bruce on June 13, 1950 in Bethany. His family was very important to him, especially his four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years; one brother and one sister.

Harold is survived by his son, Kevin Herd and wife Robin and their children, Kyle and Jacob; daughter Karen McElrath and husband Billy and their children, Cameron and Carson all of Moore; sister, Ann Bishop of Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
