The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — John Marion Houston died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Norman at the age of 60 years, 11 months, 15 days.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wadley’s Funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

John was born Feb. 16, 1952, in Purcell to Cecil Ray and Rena Oletta (Bradshaw) Houston. He was raised and attended school in Lexington. He also received on the job training through the Job Corp. John married Brenda Maddox on June 8, 1977, in Corbett. John worked in the oil field, performing maintenance on all the equipment. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, auctions, watching old Westerns and listening to old country music. John enjoyed working with his hands, repairing old cars and gardening. He loved  spending time with his family.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rena Houston; siblings Myrtle “Patsy” Houston, Junior Ray Houston and Sybil Martin; and brothers-in-law Willie Blalock, Ray Bridgeford, June Lambdin and Steve Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda; children Cecil Houston, Tammy Mueller and husband Steven and John Houston and wife Lara; grandchildren Gage Houston, Ken Mueller, Raydon Houston and Kiley Hay; siblings Betty Lambdin, Cecil Kay Keathley and husband Marlin, Alma “Cookie” Bridgeford, Janice Childress and husband Carey, Bernice Blalock and Charlene Lucas and husband Bill; and many other relatives and friends.
