NORMAN — Kevin Shawn Donovan was born May 27, 1962. He was 50 years , 4 months and one day old when he completed his earthly journey Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012.
We will celebrate his life 10 a.m. Saturday at Generations church, 1433 W. Boyd St. in Norman.
He was a wonderful, loving, compassionate husband, father, papa, brother and friend. He loved God, his family and his work and he believed in education. He was also going to vote for President Obama.
He loved his wife, Kim. She was his partner, his friend, his lover, his source of comfort, grandma to his papa. For 27 years, they shared everything, every struggle, every joy, every tear and every laugh. They loved their dogs, especially Clancy and Nicholas. They were inseparable and tender, even during the rough patches of long relationships. They shared their recovery and their faith, were baptized on the same day, cried together through deaths and rejoiced during births. She was the sun to his moon, the stars in his sky and the wind behind his Harley. They loved unconditionally for all the years they knew one another.
He loved to hang out with his grandkids, Sydney, 9, Katrina, 7, and David Cooper, 4. They had a standing date on the weekends that included sleepovers, church, McDonalds and the park. He loved watching scary movies with Sydney after the babies were in bed. He was so proud of his daughter, Elizabeth. He loved her strength, her steadfast love for her children. He was putty in her hands. He loved his son-in-law, Jessie Cooper, because he is a great dad, and that meant everything to Kevin.
He loved his sisters, Franki Anglin and Jami Morgan, their husbands Hillbilly and Terry. He loved his in-laws who, after all the years, are now simply family, and too many nieces and nephews to count. Family really was everything to Kevin.
He loved the shop where he worked. Some of his favorite people were those with who he spent his day, and some quickly grew to be family. Kevin set the bar high and gave 110 percent to everything all the time.
He loved his church family at Generations and his Bible study family who spent most Tuesday evenings together for the past seven years. He loved to learn about God and live out what he learned with the people close to him. He learned to be honest, generous and loving with this group of people.
The common theme to Kevin’s life is love. He loved and was loved by many.
Interment will be at IOOF cemetery, 1913 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, a reception to follow at Generations Church.
For those who can’t attend there is a viewing 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Primrose Funeral Home in Norman.
