Charles D. (Doug) Cornelison

The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Charles D. (Doug) Cornelison, 75, of Tecumseh, was born June 27, 1937 to Claude and Gladys (Grimwood) Cornelison in Norman. He passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012. Doug graduated from Norman High School in 1955 with two years of post-graduate work.

After high school Doug went into the U.S. Naval Reserve and served from 1955 until 1965. A member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 1491, he was a letter carrier in Norman for more than 35 years.

Doug married Martha Rodriguez on Aug.18, 1972. They moved to Tecumseh and made their home there in 1974.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents Claude (Corney) and Gladys Conelison; daughter Kelly (Cornelison) Zabel; sisters Glora Gay Childers and Wylodean Saxon; and niece Julie Hooper.

He’s survived by his wife Martha of the home; son David and wife Linda; sister Claudette Hooper and husband Charles all of Norman; brother-in-law Bill Saxon of Dallas, TX; mother-in-law Nalma Stirling of Wagoner; brothers-in-law Paul F. Rodriguez and wife Laura, George H. Rodriguez and wife Pam; sisters- n-law Diana Calvert and husband George and Libby Paden and husband Doyle; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Primrose Funeral Service Monday, October 22 from 5-7 p.m. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Primrose Chapel. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Memorial contributions can be made in Doug’s honor to the Oklahoma Heart Association.
