Alpha NaDean ‘Dean’ Harris

NORMAN — Alpha NaDean “Dean” Harris, 88, died Saturday, Oct, 6, 2012, in Owasso.

She was born March 2, 1924, in Jenks to the late Mary Lilly Warren and Charley Watt Burgett. She married Pomeroy Clayton Harris on Nov. 28, 1946, in Tulsa. The Harrises loved the Padre Island, Texas, area and spent many years as “winter Texans” there.

Dean was a talented artist and crafter who loved painting. She was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II, working on B-29 aircraft. She was famous for her delicious fried chicken, apricot fried pies, homemade ice cream and coconut cream pies. Her grandchildren remember that she always had a box of Apple Jacks ™ cereal in the cabinet for them and that she taught them how to fish.

She was preceded in death by a son, Pomeroy Clayton Harris Jr.; her husband, P.C.; four sisters and one brother.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Thomas) Watts of Owasso ; one son, Rick (Jane) Harris of Norman; two granddaughters; three grandsons; three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.

Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 777 Scholarship Fund, c/oAudre Carter, 400 Sandpiper, Norman, OK 73071, or First Christian Church, Building Fund, Children’s Area, 10100 N. Garnett Road, Owasso, OK 74055.

She walked with Him and she talked with Him, and He told her she was His own.
