NORMAN — Bob R. Collins, 82, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, in Norman at his home with his family by his side. He was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Snyder to James Hesker Collins and Gladys “Lance” Collins.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman.
Bob was united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1955, in Norman to Joyce Chapman. Bob was retired from OG&E after 33 years of service. He was a Christian and loved the Lord. He had a passion for helping others with their cars and socializing with his friends. He loved having coffee with his buddies at J-Pats and Braums. Bob loved buying, selling and tinkering with cars. Some of his favorites were the Box Lincoln and pick-ups, just to name a few. He enjoyed going to car auctions, garage sales and estate sales with his friends and going to Thunderbird Casino.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, JR Collins, Troy Collins and Wayne Collins; and one sister, Merlene Loeffelholz.
Bob was survived by his wife, Joyce Collins of 57 years; son, Brad Collins of Norman; daughter, Linda Campbell and husband Stann of Norman; one sister, Patricia Ann Imhoff and husband James of Norman; five grandchildren, Courtney Boaz and husband Matt, Andy Hailey, JoAnn Stiles and husband Aaron, Heather Meek and husband Jesse of Norman and Cade Campbell of Texas; and two great-grandchildren, River Meek and Noah on the way.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Lindsey, nurse Tracie and to Lifecare.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Arrangements for Bob and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
