The Norman Transcript

NORMAN — Myriam Herrera Bevers, 81, of Norman, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in Norman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Primrose Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2012 at Primrose Funeral Service. Arrangements are by Primrose Funeral Service.

Myriam was born Feb. 21, 1931, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She was the youngest daughter of Otilia and Eugenio Herrera. Myriam retired as a Spanish teacher after receiving her degrees in Home Economics at Oklahoma College for the Women in Chickasha and in Spanish at the University of Oklahoma. After her marriage in 1951 to W. Leon Bevers, she was a Spanish instructor with the University Peace Corps, teacher’s short courses, Norman High School and private tutoring. She also belonged to the Daffodil Club and Norman Area Iris Society.

Myriam was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W. Leon; son, Ronald; sisters, Irma and Nilda and a brother, Genito.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Oak and husband Jack; her three granddaughters, Jennifer Day, Tamarie Rushin and Jessica Tucci; great-grandsons Clem, Rewdan and Kyler; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jason, Jessica and Andrew Jack Ferren; and 12 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
