Hugh Mullins

NORMAN — Hugh Mullins, 89, passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, following a brief illness.

Hugh was born in Purcell on March 13, 1923. After attending the University of Oklahoma, he served with the Air Force 29th Repair and Reclamation Squadron in England, Belgium, Germany and France during World War II. After VE Day, he spent several months dismantling German fighter planes before finally returning home from the war on Christmas Eve 1945.

He moved back to Oklahoma City to continue his work as a civilian employee at Tinker Air Force Base, where he remained until his retirement in 1980. Jenny and Hugh were married on July 2, 1950, and they lived in Midwest City until moving to Norman last January. They were longtime members of the First Christian Church of Midwest City.

After a separation of only three months, he is reunited in heaven with Jenny, his wife of 62 years.

Hugh’s parents, Jordan and Clytie Costley Mullins, his wife, Virginia Mullins, and his six siblings preceded him in death.

Hugh is survived by son, Richard Mullins of Midwest City, Mandy Wilkerson of Norman and grandson Mason Mullins of Midwest City; son, Michael Mullins and daughter-in-law Gail of Norman; and granddaughters Ashley Nelson and her husband Matthew of Oklahoma City, Meghan Mullins and Mario Moreno of Palo Alto, Calif., and Kelsey Mullins of Norman.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church of Midwest City, at Anderson Road and Reno Avenue.
