NORMAN — Bruce Macwilliams, age 61, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at his home in Norman, with the love of his life Judy by his side.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Havenbrook Funeral Home chapel, 3401 Havenbrook St. in Norman.

Bruce was born May 17, 1951, in Great Bend, Kan., and was raised with his amazing brothers and sisters, Joanna, Sally, Scott and Matt. He graduated from Great Bend high school and received his certificate in aircraft maintenance technology in 1991 from Gorden Cooper area tech school in Shawnee. He was a spelling bee champion and marched with the Argonne Rebels from 1966 to 1971. While Bruce had many jobs, his first love was music and playing his guitar.

Bruce married his best friend, Judy (Martin) Macwilliams, on April 15, 2007, on the sandy beaches of Hawaii. He loved spending time with his family, whether that was playing in Colorado with his cousins or driving thousands of miles to visit his brother and sisters. Bruce was always up for the adventure.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Judy; three stepsons, Jamie Guthrie and spouse Angela of Denver, Troy Schmidt and spouse Karen of Norman and Chad Schmidt and spouse Lori of Yukon; two stepdaughters, Darcy Conant Rod of Norman and Holly Riley of Norman; two brothers, Scott MacWilliams and spouse Becky of Eugene, Ore., and Matt MacWilliams and spouse Barbara of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Sally Thorpe and spouse Tom of Nevada, Mo., and Joanna Jones of Waldoboro, Maine; and one grandchild, Troy Schmidt Jr. of Norman.

In his last days with us, when asked how he was doing, his response was always, “I am perfect because I am loved and so blessed.” He will be missed by all of us, we loved him dearly.

Arrangements for Bruce and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
